Stier en Europa met picador

De mooie prinses Europa werd ontvoerd door oppergod Zeus, vermomd als stier. Europa klom op zijn rug en Zeus verdween met zijn prooi in zee.

M: "Ik vond dat de rollen maar eens omgedraaid moesten worden. Stel dat Europa zich niet liet ontvoeren, maar zich als feministische stierenvechtster teweer had gesteld, wat dan...?"

'The bull has human legs and Europe stands behind him with in her hands two pointed Spanish banderillas. The engraving reads: "Europe will not let herself be abducted".

The Dutch sculptor Marius van Beek depicts the opposition to the idea of Europe led against her will to hazardous adventures and a disunited future, by sculpting a disunited Zeus, half man, half bull (...) Europe will become an adult with her own personality, sharing her culture with those of the other continents. The earth goddess Europa should well suit the present idea of putting the earth, its nature and our environment again at the center of our interests (...)'
